Wyoming Road Transportation
The road transportation in Wyoming comprises of several interstate highways, state routes, bridges and tunnels. The department administers numerous state highways, tunnels and many moveable bridges to provide easy and safe connectivity to various cities and states.
Major Highways of Wyoming:
Wyoming Highway 10 - It connects Wyoming Highway 230 in Woods Landing south to the Wyoming-Colorado State Line and continues into Colorado.
Wyoming Highway 11 - It provides connectivity of Wyoming Highway 130 to Albany.
Wyoming Highway 12 - It starts its route from Wyoming Highway 130, connects to Albany County Route 57 and Interstate 80. From there WYO 12 becomes Albany County Route 57 which is also known as Dutton Creek Road.
Wyoming Highway 13 - It starts from Carbon County, I 80. It passes thorough McFadden before reaching the Albany County.
U.S. Highway 14 - The road connects Yellowstone National Park and South Dakota.
Wyoming Highway 22 - It runs from Idaho State Highway 33 at the Idaho-Wyoming state line to the U.S. Routes 26, 89, 189, and 191 in Jackson, Wyoming.
Wyoming Highway 24 - The route passes through the northern portion of the Bear Lodge Mountains, part of the Black Hills National Forest. It spans from U.S. Route 14 to the South Dakota state line, where it continues south as South Dakota Highway 34.
Wyoming Highway 28 - It is also known as the South Pass Highway. It passes through Wyoming Highway 372 near the Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge, and with U.S. Route 287 8 miles south of Lander.

Through this 511 service, travelers can get information on scenic byways, state parks, weather, road conditions and road construction updates, along with tourism information, and recreation information and a historical marker guide.If you want to travel to Wyoming and need information on anything mentioned above, you can dial 511.

511 NotifyTravelers can get information on their phone by subscribing to 511 notification. Subscribers can choose the route segment(s) and time(s) for which they are interested in receiving messages. Messages will be sent to cell phone number or to the primary email address. They can get all the information regarding traffic, weather conditions and temporary closures.
WYDOT Authorized Travel (WAT )This program allows motorists to drive on certain close areas when authorities feel it is safe to do so. The program is according to Wyoming Statute 24-1-109 which gives permission to drive on closed roads preferably to drivers coming from work.
Enhanced Citizen-Assisted Reporting ('ECAR') This program allows volunteers to give information about road conditions to the Department. ECAR volunteer is someone who drives from particular road
regularly, and possibly has been doing so on a long-term basis. Reports from volunteers have proven to be authentic. Volunteers are given handbook which consists of various signs used on the roads to make them understand about the visual information about types of pavement.
Rest Areas
Wyoming Department of Transportation manages 37 rest areas along major and minor highways for the ease of travelers. Rest areas are open 24/7 for travelers and they offer a variety of services. Rest areas provide fresh drinking water, luxurious restrooms, telephones, picnic spots and parking areas.

Mountain Roads
US 14 between Dayton and ShellThis
is a wonderful drive with beautiful views, trees, and wildlife for
tourists. The road is extremely narrow through Shell Canyon and is not
considered accurate for oversize trucks.
US 14A between Dayton and LovellThis
is closed during the winter and become difficult to ride during the
summer season. This road is not considered accurate for oversize trucks.
US 16 between Buffalo and TensleepThis
road is not considered accurate for oversize trucks and is not
advisable for 18-wheelers. Use lower gears and save the dangerous
possibility of burning out your brakes.

Beartooth Scenic BywayOn Beartooth pass, it is Wyoming’s highest paved primary road. The road is currently in the nomination stage for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
Bighorn Scenic BywayThe Byway winds past waterfalls, lush meadows, thick forest and deep canyons. This highways is over the crest of the Big Horn Mountains.
Bridger Valley Historic BywayThis Byway showcases some of Wyoming's most treasured historical sites. The Byway area connects the Mormon Trail, California/Oregon Trail, the Pony Express Route, the Transcontinental Railroad, and the Lincoln Highway. The route connects I-80 Exit 34 and rejoins the interstate at Exit 48.
Buffalo Bill Cody Scenic BywayThe Byway displays the North Fork of the Shoshone River through scenic Wapiti Valley to the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park.
Centennial Scenic BywayThe route gives the amazing views of mountain passes including ranch land, badlands and the high montane.
Chief Joseph Scenic BywayThe route crosses the Shoshone National Forest through the Absaroka Mountains to the Clarks Fork Valley. It connects U.S. 120 to U.S. 212.
Cloud Peak Skyway Scenic BywayThe route can be reached via Ten Sleep from the west or Buffalo from the east. The Byway shares its boundaries with the National Forest.
Flaming Gorge - Green River Basin Scenic BywayThis route winds through astonishing rock formations, the high desert, and glistening mountain peaks.
Mirror Lake Scenic BywayIt gives the ecstatic view of Uinta Mountains and surrounding view of alpine mountain.
Big Spring Scenic BackwayThe Backway gives the view of river valleys, Bridger National Forest and historic emigrant trails.Traveler services are available in Cokeville, Kemmerer, and Diamondville.
Muddy Creek Historic BackwayThe route takes you from a real western ghost town to Muddy Creek, one of the most famous camping spots of the western migration.
South Big Horn/ Red Wall Scenic BackwayIt explores the southern end of the Big Horn Mountain Range.
Red Gulch/Alkali Scenic BackwayIt displays showcases of area history as well as the colorful geography of the Big Horn Mountains. There are no towns, stores, gas stations or telephones along the way. Take food and drinking water along the way, the road can get bumpy.
